CORE PRODUCT
Smart City Platform
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Loqiva is a smart city platform designed to build stronger, more connected communities through a digital town hub.
The platform brings together residents, local businesses and city governance, giving each group a reason to engage with their local area. For city governance, Loqiva provides deeper insight into how people use and engage with their town, helping inform services and decisions. It also creates a direct channel for communicating with residents, gathering feedback and promoting local businesses, events and initiatives.
At the heart of the platform is the mobile app, designed to encourage residents to discover, explore and engage with everything happening locally — from finding places to visit and events to attend, to supporting local businesses and taking part in their community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
UX & UI Design for the mobile app. UX Design for the CMS platform.
Illustration & SVG animations for web and mobile, website design, motion graphics, marketing materials.
User needs
What do you want from your city?
Through research & interviews we found two common themes our potential users wanted, a greater awareness of events & things happening that might be relevant to them & they wanted their voice and feedback to feel like it was being heard.
We broke this down into two primary use cases for the app: Discovering local content, relevant to your interests. Providing feedback to the city with responses to ensure your voice felt valued.

blacks.co.ukThrough testing we found a pro-active approach, suggesting things to do created the highest engagement and helped differentiate the platform from social media.
These recommendations are followed by a feed of relevant info, events & promotions pulled from different sources but tailored to the users profile.

Time, Space & Place
In addition to the hub feed, content is also presented geographically & chronologically, through maps & calendar views. For maps we also generated trails of similar content to create tours of new experiences based on previous user interest.
Staying Relevant
We based content relevance on information about each user captured at onboarding, as well as grouped filtered content. This is refined as the user engages with content on the platform.

Loqiva Business Admin Panel
How do we attract business?
This user data is one of the key selling points for the local businesses who put their content on to the platform. As such we wanted it to be visible front and centre when they login to their control panel.
When signing up they can tailor their dashboard to see the key metrics relevant to them. For example if they’re running a promotion they can adapt their dashboard to show how many times a code has been redeemed, what the demographics of the people who visit their establishment are and how does the daily footfall look like in their area?
Reducing workload
One of the biggest concerns among this user group was upkeep. We knew through interviews that this users time was incredible precious and therefore wanted to reduce the workload to populate the platform as much as possible. So on sign up they could quickly create automated feeds to pull from contributors websites, customer databases, social media platforms & event databases to ensure we captured as wide amount of content as possible.

Spreading the word
I also produced a number of assets & marketing materials to help launch the product, including illustrations & animations which we adapted for SVGs to highlight different features & potential user bases. We used these across the Loqiva website, e-shots, flyers & promotional videos.
